Hilary Hahn with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra - Bach Concertos SACD

(Turkish version can be written after English version below)

Hahn, whose great-grandmother was from Bad Dürkheim, Germany, was born in Lexington, Virginia. Beginning her studies when she was three years old at Baltimore's Peabody Institute, she was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia at age ten, and in 1991, made her major orchestral debut with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Hahn signed her first musical recording contract at age sixteen in 1996 with Sony Music. She graduated from the Curtis Institute in May 1999 with a Bachelor of Music degree. In 1996 when she was sixteen years old, Sony Music signed Hahn to an exclusive recording contract.

After Hahn completed her part of the contract with Sony, which was for five recordings over six years, she decided against renewing the contract as she and Sony did not agree on her future projects. Instead, Hahn signed with Deutsche Grammophon in 2003 after her contract with Sony expired in the year before.

Hahn has played with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. She debuted with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in March 2007, and played in Vatican City as part of the celebrations for Pope Benedict XVI together with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductor Gustavo Dudamel, also in 2007.

After above biographic information, I'd like to mention to Hillary Hahan's Bach Concertos album;

On this recording, which features Bach's Violin Concertos in A minor, BWV 1041 and E major, BWV 1042, as well as the Concerto for two violins in D minor, BWV 1043 and the Concerto for violin and oboe in C minor, BWV 1060.

Shortly after Bach's time, the structure of a concerto changed from an ensemble piece for chamber musicians to a piece for soloist and full orchestra. Hence many recordings of these pieces are done by 'name' soloists and 'name' orchestras and lose their intimacy in the process. This recording does not; kudos to DG and Hahn for the choice of the thoroughly musical and consummately professional Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra for this disc.

The Double Concerto (BWV 1043) is probably the gem of this disc. Bach's original scoring for this piece was intended for either two violins or two harpsichords, which makes one truly appreciate the genius of a composer able to write a single piece that is effective for both a sustaining and a non-sustaining instrument. Hahn and second violinist Margaret Batjer are perfect in their execution of the counterpoint in the first and third movement. The largo ma non tanto movement is phenomenal, as one violin plays the musical line and the other violin accents it in a way that makes the notes from the first better.

This disc also contains a piece --the Concerto for Oboe, Violin, Strings, and Continuo in C minor, BWV 1060. The oboe's sound at its best should be like a water drop forming on a faucet--starting gently, filling roundly, and dropping cleanly.

A few words for the great recordings, yes when you hear the recording on this SACD, you will be surprised with clear and detailed sound, very successive recording and a great SACD work.

Hahn Londra filarmoni, New York filarmoni, Stutgart Radyo Senhoni gibi orkestralarla çalışmalar yapr.

Yukarıdaki kısa biyografik bilgilerden sonra sanatçının Bach Konçertoları albümüne altta gelelim;

Bu albümde, Bach keman konçertoları Violin Concertos in A minor, BWV 1041 ve E major, BWV 1042, the Concerto for two violins in D minor, BWV 1043 ve the Concerto for violin and oboe in C minor, BWV 1060 bulunuyor
