Bill Charlap - I'm Old Fashioned 200 Gr LP

Bugün kü konuğumuz Bill Charlap ve albümü I'm Old Fashioned ama önce biraz sanatçı hakkında bilgi vereyim.

Bill Charlap henüz üç yaşında piyano çalmaya başlar. Sonraları klasik müzik üzerine çalışır ama hep caza ilgi duyar. Gerry Mulligan, Benny Carter ve Tony Benett gibi sanatçılarla çalışmalar yapar.

90'ların ortalarında Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, A Celebration of Johnny Mercer 'da müzik direktörlüğü yapar. 1995'de Phil Woods Quintet' a katılır. En az yılda iki kez dünyaca ünlü caz klüplerinde sahne alır, bunlar içinde ritim grubuyla katıldığı ( Peter Washington :Kontrbas ve Kenny Washington:davul) Village Vanguard' ta vardır.

Ayrıca, Bill Charlap Trio olarak Peter Washington ve Kenny Washington ile çalışmakta ve kayıtlar yapmaktadır. Ek olarak 2011 yılından bu yana Japon Venus firması için New York Trio' nun bir üyesi olarak kayıtlar yapmaktadır. Diğer üyeler bu trio'da Jay Leonhart kontbas ve Bill Stewart davul'dur.

Bu albümde kontrbasta Peter Washington ve gitarda Peter Bernstein ile çalışan sanatçı on tane muhteşem caz standardını yorumlamış.Kayıtlar Avatar Stüdyoları New York'ta mastering ise Venus Stüdyolarında yapılmış ve Japon Venus firması albümü 200 gr odyofil LP olarak yayımlamış.

Albümde Bill Chapman piyanoda bir maestro gibi çalarken diğer iki sanatçı dostuda onu harika şekilde desteklemekteler. Kayıt harika ve sanki Chapman sizin dinleti odanızda piyanosunu çalmakta.

Today, I try to review Bill Charlap's album I'm Old Fashiones in the blog, but first of all I'd like to write something about him.

Bill Charlap began playing piano at age three. He later studied classical music, but remained most interested in jazz. He has worked with Gerry Mulligan, Benny Carter, Tony Bennett, and others.

In the mid-90s, he was the musical director of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, A Celebration of Johnny Mercer, part of New York's JVC Jazz Festival. In 1995 he joined the Phil Woods Quintet. Charlap appears at least twice a year for lengthy runs at some of the world's major jazz clubs, including the Village Vanguard with his rhythm section, consisting of Peter Washington (bass) and Kenny Washington (drums).

In addition to appearing and recording with Peter Washington and Kenny Washington in the Bill Charlap Trio, since 2001 Charlap has also recorded as a member of the New York Trio for the Japanese label Venus Records. The other members of the New York Trio are bassist Jay Leonhart and drummer Bill Stewart.

In this album, he worked with Peter Bernstein on guitar and Peter Washington on bass. Album consists of ten wondurful jazz standards. Records were made in Avatar Studios in NYC and mastering was done on Venus Studios. Album relesed by Japanese Venus Record Company as 200 gr audiophile LP.

Bill Chapman is a maestro on the piano and the othere two musicians are supporting him very well. Absolutely stunning sound - listen to it on a good stereo and Charlap could be playing the piano in your living room.
