Frank Sinatra - In the Wee Small Hours 180 Gr LP

(English version of this review is after below Turkish one.)

Klasik albüm kapağı aslında herşeyi anlatır...Sinatra sigarasını yakmış, yalnız başına gece geç vakitte sokak lambasına yaslanmış, yere bakmakta ve kaybettiği aşkını düşünmekte.

Kuşkusuz "In the Wee Small Hours" Frank Sinatra'nın bence yapmış olduğu en iyi albümüdür.

The classic album cover says it all---Frank Sinatra, with his trademark cigarette burning, standing on a lonely street late at night, looking down and reflecting about a lost love.

"In the Wee Small Hours" is without a doubt Sinatra's best album, catching the legend at the height of his vocal powers as he and Riddle interpret an amazing array of material that easily stands the test of time.

Nelson Riddle (Frank's best collaborative choice ever) and his orchestra help craft an album of amazing intensity for its' time (1955), yielding an album that at times is quite literally heartbreaking. Riddle's arrangements never compete with the vocalist, yet are amazingly forward and strong, capturing an incredibly potent melancholy distillation of this material that is intoxicating. His phrasings and chord changes in some songs are just short of genius, as are Sinatra's, whose tender voice and fall away notes give strong evidence of his amazing talent. But we all know that.

The songs selected for this album were well thought out, and boasts numbers by Rodgers and Hart, Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, and Cole Porter just to name a few. From the title track through "This Love of Mine", the listener is taken on a slow meandering examination of lost love written in first person male perspective. It is quite literally a love letter, or perhaps a journal, that chronicles the depths of love lost and not regained

You should get it if you love sentimental jazz ballads with a perfect voice...
